My Story
I love to tell the story of my first steps into becoming a counsellor. As a fresh faced 18 year old I knew I wanted to help people and counselling seemed to be exactly what I was looking for. Armed with my student card, file, pens and a sense of excitement I sat down in the first class! a few minutes later in what I now see as a compliment the tutor approached me asking my age and informed me that I was too young to be there! My counselling journey was over before it began.

In Hindsight I can recognise the silver lining, as I got older and had more experiences some positive and some life changing I can see how my experiences have shaped me to be a much better counsellor now.
I trained as an integrative counsellor as I believe in a more holistic approach looking at the individual and working together, I know now that each person is the expert in their own lives and although I can give a positive input it is the working together that makes the change.

I strive to continue to add to my skills and knowledge by continuing with my studies including cognitive behavioural therapy

Working as staff in Childline gave me the experience to be solution focused working in short term,
Cruse Bereavement which gave me an in-depth understanding of loss and grief and to recognise the impact and how loss and grief isn't just reserved for death.
My work in the prisons opened my eyes to a new level of understanding and non-judgement that I now share with all my clients.
